Interests:Art, photography, animals, outdoors, hiking, environment, small farming, internet, graphics, webdesign, archaeology, christian. I am a lawyer by training and worked a number of years in the NZ Government, until my father died of leukaemia and I moved onto the family's small farm rather than sell it. I work on the Internet, look after the farm and animals, and do art when I can fit it in. For 10 years I looked after my elderly mother with Alzheimers. It was a hard time for both of us but I don't regret the years I gave her. For a no-holds-barred expose, see my blog HERE. Since she passed on in February 2007 I have had my work cut out catching up on all the stuff that got neglected meantime.
Sports:My assorted animals make a great team when they decide to hit me up for something to eat - 4 dogs, 6 cats (all survivors), some goats, a horse - and a heap of rare breeds chickens. My favorite "sport" was walking in the high country when I worked for the New Zealand Government. Here in NZ we call it "tramping" and I think it's called "hiking" overseas. As well as belonging to a club, I had a group of hunterfriends and made trips with them. I miss the high mountains where I live now, though we have some other great places in the North here - see my slide show.
Music:All sorts - pop, some rock, latin. Christian - it has to be good music, not just noise. I used to pick guitar in my teens and wish I han't given it up - so - I have just started to teach myself keyboards a la piano - something I've always wanted to do.. Partly for Christian music, but also very much for some of my fave 70's and 80's pieces from Creedence Clearwater, Fleetwood Mac, Springsteen, Clapton and the Eagles - you can hear some of those on my playlist.
Movies:Documentaries, especially animals and archaeology - don't watch many "story" movies - too busy.
TV:Don't watch - one screen in my life is enough.
Books:Mostly non-fiction. Books about the geography, natural history, flora and fauna of New Zealand. Photography books of our wonderful NZ countryside. My bookshelves are crammed with them. Bible study books - my favourite is "Doing Business God's Way" byDennis Peacocke because it is hugely relevant to how we live and do business in this world.. See my Review HERE. Another great book is "Revolution in World Missions" by KP Yohannen. It carries the flavor of the early Christian church, before we humans turned church into a religion.. See my Review HERE. Plus THE BIBLE, of course...."'The Bible isn't a textbook on economics' (or science, or law, or government, or anything else but salvation). True enough. It isn't a textbook on any one of these things. It's a textbook on all of them, and everything else in life, and it doesn't read like a textbook, systematically treating each thing in isolation, because it was inspired by a God who made all of life interwoven so that everything affects everything else." (Thank you, Dennis Peacocke).
Heroes/Idols:First and Foremost, JesusChrist.
In human beings: Lee Strobel, KP Yohannen (they are both serving the Lord selflessly), some of the world's great artists and musicians, past and present, and many of my friends.
