Ever wondered why Yuwie is sooooo sloooow ?
Well, there is the simple and correct answer of course : Yuwie is slow because it's growing amazingly fast, so the creators can't keep up the pace. True, but maybe to easy ;)
Another reason i can think of, is that people keep overloading their profile with heavy load data like large pictures, videos, mp3 and so on. Add to this fact that 9 people out of 10 give you a glittering "thanks for the add" pic comment that contributes heavily to make your page slower.
Think that a normal web page should weight less than 100ko and that most of this pic comments are already close to this value. Multiply this by the number of comments on your page, most of the time it's around 20, and your page is already close to 2mo, add your personal pics and a mp3 stream and you jump to 4-5 mo, which is already 50x more than it should be !!
Now get this figure, and multiply this by the number of Yuwie users who don't pay attention to this, and you will get the global idea.
The resulting bandwith overload is HUGE. It's obviously bringing down the server several times a day, and slowing down everyone surfing on Yuwie, which result in a bad user experience and far less page views for everyone.
So please, please, everyone, help Yuwie to become faster, ban the pic comments, try to think if this pic is really worth it when you add in and if you agree with all this, help fight the general madness and join my club to tell others !

-About the music and videos, as suggested by Karl, it's a very good solution to include them in your blogs, and then create links to it in your shoutbox like "the music room" or something. This way, only the people interested in viewing the video will have to load it, while giving you an additional view in the process.

-A lot of people came back to me after this post to ask me why I allow html in comments if I don't want pics. It's because of the importance of html links. They are a fast and convenient way to surf between profiles and interesting content, while dramatically increase the page views without overloading the page.
-Some people also told me they like theses pictures comments. FINE, I'm happy with it, your space is yours, I'm not trying to patronize you, just letting you know why I will not accept them.
